With the research that has been found, there are a lot of wooden cover for laptops, so with this in mind the idea of exploring into different areas in this design seems to be the right choice.
The thought of a dragonfly wing effect on the cover of designs is new and exciting. Images below show the design of the wings that could incorporate on to the design.

Existing Deisgn
I have found a similar existing design like to the one i am hoping to produce. It is for the mackbook pros, and is a wooden casing for it, this is incredibly similar to my re-design. However it is very clean cut, whereas mine will have a raw and rough appearance and will actually be on the laptop.

1950 Era
As the typewriter I am looking into is from the 1950 era, research into that particular era seems necessary. here are images of the fashion, photography cars and technology of the time. This helps as it advices my design process to match the desired result.
Sketch ideas for Keys
I have done a few sketches for idea for the keys of the laptop, they are raw and rough sketches but it shows the direction and style. The style of the 1950's is apparent and I feel it gives a retro yet classy feel towards the laptop and to enable there not to be a tacky feel towards it.
Typewriter style
The style of typewriter I have decided to recreate for the key board of my design is that of a 1950's Royal and Underwood typewriters. These designs are simple, extremely recognisable and a timeless classic.
In one of these images it is shown that there is a keyboard style of a typewriter, this is similar to what I what I want to achieve.

Developed Extra Ideas
The use of mind mapping has be used again to developed extra ideas for this project. However even though these ideas are worthy to venture into for the re-design, the direction I will still carry on with is the raw wood effect. But these ideas are here to show more directions that I could venture into.
Extra Ideas
After talking to Neil about the direction of my re-desgin, it was suggested to generate different ideas which are different than the chosen re-design. I used a mid map to show different directions, some of the ideas could be used and looked into a lot further.

Feedback
After having feed back with Neil here are some of the notes I jotted down. They explain thoughts, direction and ideas I need to look into.
Typewriter keys
The keys shown here are a possible candidate for the keys used on the laptop. However the over all feel must be that of a simplistic style. So the vintage keys may cause to be a hinderance.
Food for Thought
As I have an idea that the buttons will have the same wood finish as the laptop outer cover, I have started to think of maybe making the buttons look more original. I am fond of the buttons used on a type writer, as they are different, individual and i think could work well with the design. To give a rustic, raw and original feel to the laptop.

Types of Wood
Now the task of choosing what type of wood that shall be the case of the laptop is the task. I have been looking into a few to see which give the desired look.
also here are images of bamboo wood and eucalyptus wood
Keyboard Research
Keyboard research is also a major part for this project as I am designing the keys to have the same raw design as the front. This will combine the laptop together, and bring the design to have a constant feel. The research toward this has shown that the preferred keys would be similar to the keys used on an Apple Macbook, with the keys spread apart to stand individually shows a simplistic and stylish characteristic.
